What is it?Popular culture is anywhere you look. Located all around the world and appealing to all types of people it will always be a phenomenon. By definition is a collection of thoughts, ideas, attitudes, perspectives, images preferred by the mainstream population. Popular culture is displayed through multiple forms of communication. Depicted through the media, it commonly focuses on lives of famous actors, singers and sports stars. As-well it is spread through family members as the latest information is known to each other.

How and Who does it affect? |
Popular Culture being everywhere on the world affects anyone possible both negatively and positively. The media conveys new and uprising issues and interests people of any city. Popular culture affects people in all types of ways as it changes attitudes and beliefs people have. Popular Culture extends itself through the media to reach people and attend to their likings. Popular culture in itself has influenced many generations and moulded the stereotype of each generation. Examples of this are the Traditionalists, Baby Boomers, Generation X, Millennials. The Generations have all been affected by popular Culture. Mainly the Millennials have been most affected, as new Technology has been introduced into the world as smartphones burst into the scene. However it had been the same case in the 1960's, as new phone, television, communications technology were introduced.

World War 2 and its influence |
Popular Culture had been majorly influenced post World War 2 as it constituted a more media based world. After World War 2, The television programs were much more powerful than radio because they could depict event and news more entertaining to the people. Music and movies had a large impact aswell. Music more importantly had boomed post WW2 as throughout the next 25 years. "The Beatles' had been a major change in pop culture as they revolutionised the way music was made. The new type of rock that was played by The Beatles had attracted many large crowds of enthusiastic fans. Many bands in the time, including the Beatles had music based around events of the time. In according to this, the economy grew and in this the demand for consumer goods had risen. After WW2 life had become easier in cases with new installments of machinery and modern conveniences. These new appliances were easier to be put into homes of people like never before. Aswell transportation and communication had gotten cheaper and effectively more efficient. With travel being more popular and cheaper, motor hotels had began to be more necessary on the roads. Having free time to spend on the roads was a major cause to pop culture elements of the late 40's and especially 50's. Many pop culture advertisements were wrapped around movements of WW2 thus creating a popular culture of any different kind, with an influence from WW2. America's presence had been felt in Australia prior to WWII. As well as political ties between the two countries, America and Australia were strong trade partners. In 1928, it was estimated that Australia sourced almost 25 percent of its imports from America. To correspond to this, popular culture throughout Australia had changed after WW2 as Australia had gained a stronger relationship with The United States thus receiving some Culture from the States such as movies and music.
